Yokohama Thrilled To Be Back In Baja With The NORRA Mexican 1000, Presented By Method Race Wheels!

Offers Two Racers Programs in 2021!

Agua Dulce, CALIF. – Everyone is anxious to get back to racing in Baja, and Yokohama Tire is no exception. Title sponsor of the NORRA Mexican 1000, their long history in off road racing is a perfect fit for NORRA who “Honors The Past While Forging The Future.” Many of the restored race cars running with NORRA are on Super Digger III’s to remain faithful to their originality. Most choose Yokohama tires for pure performance reasons. Accomplished NORRA racers like Boyd Jaynes and Brian Godfrey, Jim and Lisa Greenway, Justin Lofton, Wayne and Kristen Matlock, and Bob Lawrence all race on Yokohama tires because they deliver the traction, and durability needed in such challenging conditions.

While unable to have the grand strand Tech and Contingency in front of the Riviera Convention Center as in years past, NORRA is proud to present a more intimate affair hosted at the infamous Horsepower Ranch! Stay tuned for upcoming details...

“We’re thrilled to be back racing in Baja as the title sponsor of the Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 for the fourth consecutive year,” said Drew Dayton, Yokohama Tire’s motorsports manager. “The fans and racers are really enthusiastic because it’s a fun, classic-style Baja rally. We’ll be supporting Team Yokohama members like team Caballo Del Diablo and Justin Lofton. Teams will be competing on various GEOLANDAR tires, from the A/T G015, X-AT and M/T G003, to race-specific products like Super Digger III and MT-R.”

The Super Digger design has stood the test of time since the 1980’s, as it is still manufactured today along with the entire line of Geolander tires for everything from UTV’s to Trophy Trucks, and Ultra4 rock racers. Whether you are racing, recreating, or commuting to work, Yokohama has a tire for your vehicle, and intended use. The Yokohama racer program for NORRA has 2 avenues.

ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with:
Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel & Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, RIGID, STEEL-IT, Volcon, Multitool USA, Satellite Phone Store.com, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, Schampa, Optima Batteries, K&N, Baja Bush Pilots, The Fab School, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
